About our Centre CSERPE, a centre
for migration research founded in Basel in 1968, belongs to the religious Congregation of
the Scalabrini Missionaries who promote religious,
social and educational activities for migrants and refugees throughout the world and aim
at sensitising the host societies on this issue.
Besides working directly with people on the move, the Missionaries cooperate with various
organizations and associations engaged in the field of migration and have set up a network
of Study Centres in several countries to monitor the evolution of migration movements. Our
Centre in Basel carries out some of its projects in liaison with this network.
Activities carried out by CSERPE range from historical, sociological and theological
research on migration to educating the public on the causes and consequences of human
mobility through the publication of articles and essays on newspapers and scientific
journals.
The Centre maintains a specialised library, multidisciplinary in content, with a catalogue on-line, constantly up-dated, with books, journals,
archival resources and grey literature on international migration and refugee problems.
The CSERPE library is open to researchers, university students, social and pastoral
workers active in the field of migration. We offer assistance to those who visit our
library in their research and ensure a liaison with other centres and organizations
interested in human mobility.
