The annual meeting of the Directors of the Scalabrini Centers for Migration Studies took place in Buenos Aires from 3rd to 4th December 2015. L. Deponti was present on behalf of the CSERPE. The day before the meeting, on 2nd December, the Centro de Estudios Migratorios Latino-Americanos (CEMLA) celebrated the 30th anniversary of its foundation. On this occasion, the participants commemorated the founder of CEMLA, Fr. Luigi Favero, Scalabrinian Missionary deceased in 2000, and thanked the several collaborators that have contributed to the activities of this Center in Buenos Aires from 1985 until today. Jorge Martínez Pizarro, researcher at the Centro Latinoamericano y Caribeño de Demografía (Santiago, Chile), held a speech on the topic: “Migrations in Latin America. Development and human rights”.
During the following two days, the representatives of the Study Centers discussed their common projects for next year and the development strategy for their network. Fr. Gildo Baggio, General Councilor of the Scalabrinians, Fr. Leonir Chiarello, Executive Director of the Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN), and Fr. Mario Zambiasi, Assistant Director of SIMN, were also present at the meeting.
